Testimonials from Current Members
“I first joined the Friends of Edinburgh University Library because of their great-value student membership price. I have come to love that I can be more involved with the Library and attend special events and talks organised especially for the Friends. My membership also gives me the opportunity to meet and form connections with all the other amazing people that are involved with the Friends group, many of whom I would not have the opportunity to meet otherwise. I really enjoy being a member of the Friends and greatly recommend it to all students and recent graduates!” — Danielle Howarth (UK)
“I joined the Friends of Edinburgh University Library more than thirty years ago when I was a member of staff in the Library’s Special Collections. I decided to do so because I had seen at first hand the important contribution they made to the purchase of significant items for the Library’s collections of manuscripts and rare books. Now I am retired I enjoy the opportunity membership gives me to keep up to date with developments in the library through Friends’ newsletters and to meet friends and former colleagues at Friends’ events.” — Marjorie Robertson (UK)
“I joined the Friends of Edinburgh University Library many years ago in gratitude for the invaluable assistance I received for my research as a postgraduate student, and subsequently as a scholar of the Scottish Enlightenment and book history based in the USA. Unfortunately, distance prevents me from taking part in most of the group’s trips and activities, but I have fond memories of a visit to Newhailes which my wife and I once took with the Friends. Now that I have retired, I have upgraded to a Life Membership as a further expression of thanks and appreciation.” — Rick Sher (USA)
